The physical demands on conveyor belts in food processing applications continue to increase. Belt materials such as polyoxymethylene (POM, aka Acetal) and Polyethylene have been used for years as good options, but now Habasit is offering a superior material – WHI – which offers better wear resistance, better hydrolysis resistance and better impact resistance.

WHI goes beyond what POM has offered by being 300% more impact resistant and having 40% less wear in both wet and dry controlled tests. The improved impact and wear resistance reduce the risk of contamination from wear debris and broken modules. This leads to higher production yields and less downtime. Finally, WHI features improved hydrolysis and chemical resistance which allows it to withstand demanding cleaning and sanitation protocols.

WHI is targeted at the red meat, poultry and fish industries but is also suitable for non-food industry applications where increased wear and impact resistance is required.
